Sam Darnold out of New York Jets’ Monday Night Football game

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold will miss the next week’s Monday Night Football game against Cleveland Browns due to mononucleosis.
Head coach Adam Gase has announced the place of Darnold will be started in by Trevor Siemian.
Darnold missed practice because he had been feeling ill, when he was sent home by the group.
Team doctors advised him weren’t working .
Elevate Luke Falk from the practice team or the Jets need to sign a backup for Siemian.
Darnold could miss the Week Three game against the Patriots – after which the Jets have a bye.
When asked if Darnold’s could keep him out for over one game, Gase responded:”Looks like it. Good thing we have the first bye.
“I understand he is out this week and then past I will have more info as we proceed.”
Siemian made 24 starts for the Denver Broncos earlier – .
He had been a back-up for the Minnesota Vikings last year but did not appear in a match.
There are also doubts about the availability of three-time Pro Bowl running Le’Veon Bell later which he picked up a shoulder injury in last Sunday’s 17-16 defeat into the Buffalo Bills .
“He has a sore shoulder” Gase affirmed. “We will be assessing it. I will know more later today.”
Asked if Bell could miss Monday’s game against Cleveland, Gase explained:”I’m not sure. I’m waiting to find the scope of this out. This may just be soreness.
“We don’t think that it is anything much worse than that however we’re probably just being a little extra careful.”
